Message From Pastor Vargas

Dear Parishioners,

As your Pastor, I want to reaffirm my unwavering commitment to the safety and protection of every child and vulnerable adult in our parish family. Our children are precious gifts from God, and it is our sacred responsibility to ensure they are nurtured, protected, and supported in every way possible.

The Diocese of Palm Beach, through its Office of Safe Environments, has established clear procedures to safeguard our children and vulnerable adults, and as a parish, we fully embrace these measures. Abuse or neglect in any form will never be tolerated. We are committed to compliance with civil and canon law, to providing education, training, and guidance, and to fostering a culture where every individual feels safe, valued, and loved.

I am proud to share that all of our parish employees, teachers, and volunteers have completed the required safe environment training and continue to uphold these standards in every ministry and program.

As your Pastor, I personally pledge to remain vigilant, proactive, and compassionate in all matters concerning the protection of our children and vulnerable adults. Together, as a parish family, let us uphold this mission of safety, justice, and mercy, ensuring that our parish remains a secure and nurturing home for all.

Dear Brother Priests,

As Pastor of St. Thomas More, I am always grateful when visiting priests join us in the celebration of the Eucharist. Your presence enriches our parish family and strengthens the bonds of our shared priesthood.

At the same time, I am entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring that every celebration of the sacraments in this parish is conducted in full communion with the Church and in fidelity to our diocesan policies , especially those designed to protect God’s children and safeguard the faithful. For this reason, I ask that any priest wishing to celebrate or concelebrate Mass here provide the following:

  1. Letter of Suitability (Celebret) , A current letter of good standing from your bishop or religious superior affirming that you are in good standing and have faculties to celebrate the sacraments.

  2. Identification ,Clerical or diocesan ID so we may properly verify your status.

  3. Advance Notification , Whenever possible, please contact our parish office before your visit so we can prepare and extend proper hospitality.

These policies are not simply procedural; they are an expression of our sacred duty to protect the flock entrusted to us , especially children and vulnerable adults , and to ensure that the Eucharist is celebrated in a spirit of safety, reverence, and communion with the Church.

I am deeply grateful for your ministry, and I welcome you warmly to join us. If you would like to celebrate or concelebrate Mass at St. Thomas More, please reach out to me or the parish office so we can assist you in fulfilling these requirements.

With fraternal gratitude in Christ,
Rev. Alex Vargas
