Blessed Easter

Pastor Harris' Easter Message

Easter celebrates God’s timeless plan of Salvation through Christ our Lord.  God is always relevant in every age.  He seeks us out in love and desires to be found by faith, because God is the same today, yesterday and tomorrow (Hebrews 13:8).  His love is everlasting; His mercy endures forever.  There is no shadow of turning or change in God.  He does not grow old and apart from us.  His eye is ever watchful and never dims.  His memory never fades; he remembers the covenant that He made with Abraham and with his children forever.  His arms cradle us and never grow weary.  What God did on that First Resurrection Morning in raising His Son Jesus Christ from the dead He is able and desires to do for you.

God’s love reaches its perfection and purpose in Christ at the Cross.  The Love of God is an expression of His will for us in Christ:

For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.  This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. (John 6:38-39)

God reveals His Love as mercy, pardoning us what we do deserve—for the wages of sin is death—and granting us what we do not deserve—everlasting life.  We who have experienced the merciful love of God live in awe of the Mighty God Who has looked down upon the earth and has exalted us—the least among His creatures—to such sublime heights.  His mercy overflows our hearts with gratitude until we have to rejoice with Mary:

My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for He has looked on the humble estate of His servant. He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name.
And His mercy is for those who fear Him
from generation to generation.

(Luke 1:46-50)

We gather together in the presence of Our God made flesh.  The Sacred Scriptures and great traditions of St. Thomas More Catholic Church proclaim and savor every word and gesture of Our Savior on His mission to redeem us by His blood and to raise us to share in His wonderful life here in our world and in the blessed world to come.  We are convinced that Our Lord is here, waiting for you in Holy Communion, to welcome you home to His Holy Church and to bless you, just bless you as you have never been blessed before.  Come; let us rejoice together at Easter.

Rev. Alex Vargas, Rev. Marvin Borda, the wonderful ministers, parishioners and staff extend our personal invitations to you and your loves ones to join us in celebrating Christ’s Resurrection and the new life he offers to all who trust in Him.
